It makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Decreased mobile competition means higher prices and less innovation. Data plans become more expensive while networks get slower. Join the fight to keep the mobile industry innovative and competitive.

Why the AT&T Takeover Doesn’t Make Sense

Stockpiles
Spectrum

AT&T already has ample spectrum, holding on average more than # MHz of prime broadband-capable 700 MHz and AWS spectrum, that it has yet to build out. T-Mobile doesn’t give AT&T any unused capacity - T-Mobile’s network is already congested. The mega-takeover won’t improve AT&T’s network; it just eliminates AT&T’s only GSM competitor.

Won't Increase
Geographic Reach

Acquiring T-Mobile won’t increase AT&T’s geographic reach - the networks almost entirely overlap already. T-Mobile’s voice network extends to only # more people than AT&T’s.

Reduces
Competition

AT&T’s takeover of T-Mobile creates a clear duopoly that will dramatically reduce competition in the wireless industry. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon would have nearly 80% of all mobile industry revenues.

Destroys
Jobs

AT&T has publicly stated that it will make $40 billion in cost cuts, all while enjoying the ability to raise prices on Americans. The acquisition will eliminate stores, eliminate jobs, eliminate back offices and eliminate marketing spending. This is not only a loss of jobs for T-Mobile workers, but also for every business with ties to the wireless telecom industry.
